Ode to the @CRANKSHARK (@rexriot, @djbasscamp, @propervillainy, & @SpicoliDCtoBC)

Okay so finally writing about #crankparty and #crankparty2 because it is a phenomenon that is hard to put into words.  The first question that many ask is what is a #crankparty… well here is how they first one was advertised – “Cam JusRex RiotBasscamp, and Infuze will be playing CRANK, DUBSTEP, and MOOMBAHTON music that you hate while you get fucked up and and touch each other on the dance floor.” Lol way to just put it out there but can anyone really argue with that?

The second one gave a bit more information:  “On March 3, 2012 Proper Villains will be playing #CRANKPARTY2 in Washington, DC. Proper Villains is a major dubstep producer with official tracks for Universal and Play Me Records and an official remixology that includes Enrique Iglesias, Theophilus London, Dev, The Cataracs, and Dirty Disco Youth.   The #CRANKPARTY is the hub in the nation’s capital for heavy bass music and highly sought-after Dubstep/Moombahton/EDM producers and DJs. It is hosted by Rex Riot and Basscamp and attracts a crowd of 300+ for the best in bass music and party features including a Jameson open bar, massive flying sharks, and other rage-inspiring surprises.” (but to be honest everyone got fucked up and touched each other at that one as well.)

Now after all that, how would I describe the #crankparty?  Well first I must say that it is something that you HAVE to experience.  I’m not just saying that you have to experience it to truly understand it, I am also saying that because it is a dope ass party that is a must go to if you are in DC.  It is awesome music, a great crowd and a ton of fun!!

…also rumor has it that it is now going to a regular occurrence now so I’m looking forward to a

WOULD YOU WEAR THIS DRESS?

OMG I would LIVE in this Tom Ford number!!! I don’t know about for my wedding day but give me a black tie occasion and it is ON!!

modernloveinvites:

The idea of a cape accompanying this gorgeous modern streamlined dress blows my mind. But I am really not surprised that this is a dress by the one and only Tom Ford. There is no other designer like him.

I would love to see a risque bride walk down the aisle in something like this beautiful ensemble that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the Oscars 2012. Gorg!

Would you wear something like this on your wedding day?

Highland Highlights: First Feature – TheGoodHairBlog’s Alexandra

I’m starting a new segment called Highlands Highlights (@HighlandsCafeDC) and my inaugural post features @TheGoodHairBlog’s Alexandra.  She came in for breakfast with a friend this weekend and I just really loved her all around style and finally after mentally debating the least awkward and least intrusive way to ask, I requested a picture for my blog.  She informed me that she also blogs and it seemed very fitting that I would meet her in the midst of a battle with my now natural hair!!  Her blog is a great collection of different styles, techniques and products for working with natural hair.  It is a great resource that came at just the right time!!

So now that I am done plugging this awesome blog, what is Highlands Highlights?  Well Highlands Cafe is the awesome cafe I work at on the weekends! They have awesome food and super affordable prizes.  There are not many places around these days were you can get breakfast platters for 2 for around $20!!  Being a young neighborhood spot, we usually get some awesome clientele and I have decided to start highlighting it.  So each weekend I will try to select someone fun who comes in to highlight!! Let the fun begin!

Challenge: LBDM Spring 2012 x DCFunemployment Blogger Style2

LBDM Spring 2012 x DCFunemployment Blogger Style 2

LITTLE by Darin Michelle (LBDM) Tee – Sugar and Spice

Gap 1969 mid-weight legging jeans in Russian Red – $69.95

Steve Madden Manngo – $80

Oneda by Vince Camuto in Shiny Silver and Mandarin Patent  – $98

Joe’s Jeans Tyra – $185

This would also go with the Ash Bowie in Clay – $225 (See first outfit styling)

I had so much fun with this that I decided to style two tees!! This is how I would style this cute tee (cheesy pun intended).  The shoes again would depend on where I was going and time of year but since colored pants are so in and so fun I went with the red pants!! For fall I would add a great oversized grey sweater to ground all the red and in the spring a fun grey jacket would work well.
