Are you surprised?!? Those that know me well know I talk too much so I’ve decided not to fight it. Thanks to some sounds advice from the first #CapFabbAcademy panel and from a talk with Demetria Lucas of A Belle in Brooklyn, I have rediscovered my voice and it’s pretty loud, I guess stifling it only makes it come back louder. Thanks to the Belle it is now louder with a purpose.
So what does this all mean you ask?!? It means that I am taking my space back and going back to the being the DCFunemployed girl you all know and love. If you want to know about the crazy ramblings in my head, come visit me on my personal blog!! If you want to know about the fun and fabulous events I go to around the city, check out my events posts on SpicyCandyDC. If you want a visual journey of it all check out my Instagram. If you wanna chat, hit me up on Twitter.
So what did I learn?!? I learned that for starters I have some pretty awesome friends and need to step my game up!!! I learned I’m wasting my Pretty, aka not using my business (DCFunemployment) or my brand (which I learned is ME! lol) to the fullest. So it’s time to get down to business. I learned that I should have 5 sources of income and 4 of them should be working while I am sleeping. So it’s time to get down to business. I learned that I am smarter and more talented and can do more than I’ve ever wanted to accept before. So IT’S TIME FOR ME TO GET DOWN TO BUSINESS. Are you getting the point now? “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us”. I never truly understood that before but now that I do, watch out.
From left to right at the table: Katya of She’s Unique and SpicyCandyDC, Carlis of SpicyCandyDC and SpicyCandy PR Agency, Katherine – Director of E-Commerce at Nylon Magazine, Cortnie of StyleLustPages and Designer of Love,Cortnie clutches and Ana B the makeup artist behind Love Ana B. All of these ladies are (or have been) business owners and innovators and it’s time for me to take my seat at the table. The only person in my way is myself and I’m ready for it all to change. I hope you are all ready to go for another crazy ride with me.
(Insert your imaginary ghost ride the whip gif here)
I also wanna give a shout out to a really special and awesome lady that I am finally getting to know better…
Lacey is the creator of A Lacey Perspective and co-founder of CapFabb and if not for her and Liz’s vision of bringing the fashion blogging scene together in DC, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet some of these woman that have become friends, mentors and peers over the last couple years.
HAPPY to have you back! Looking forward to reading everything you have to say my dear
