Have You Met: Pervis Taylor

Let’s start at the very beginning – Who Are You?
Pervis Taylor, III – I help people to flourish. CEO of Averent Wellness, Coach, Speaker and Author. I have over ten years of experience in coaching and counseling with a niche in black men. I love what i do.

What makes you dope?
What makes me dope is I’m me. I’ve been through a ton of challenges and I still show up as my authentic self and I still have a zest for life.

Who was your first inspiration and how did you first learn about them?
My first inspiration besides of Michael Jackson was Sean Puffy Combs. I loved how he transformed sonically the landscape of music and shifted culture. I originally wanted to work in music and moved to New York. 20 years later, I’m still here in NYC pursuing my dreams.

What’s your happy place? Your favorite thing to do to bring yourself joy?
My happy place is dancing. I LOVE to dance and get lost in music. My favorite thing to do is watch movies with my friends family. It brings me so much elation.

Where do you get your energy and motivation?
My motivation comes from my relationship with Christ. I believe its important to be surrendered to something greater than you. I also am very introspective and have a relentless pursuit of excellence.

What does balance mean to you and how do find it?
Balance to me is quality of quantity. If i have 15 minutes of meaningful interaction with someone that beats an hour of not being connected. So its about the quality of my experiences.

What sacrifices did you have to make or struggles did you face to get here?
Man, I was laughed at humiliated for pursuing my dreams. I went without money and a host of experiences with people.

What is the early advice you didn’t listen to that you wish you had? Or what advice would you give your earlier self?
Save for a rainy day. Listen please save, cause a rainy day is gonna come!!

What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from it?
My biggest failure was not believing in myself fully. I recognize that folk can be mediocre but if they believe in themselves they can do anything. While I’ve wrestled to accept my dopeness, I realize I’ve missed so much and limited myself.

What was your proudest moment to date?
That I’m still able to love after the painful experiences I’ve endured.

How Can The Community Help You Today?!?!
I just want folks to know that flourishing is possible and that life not only happens to you but from you. Focus on the life that happens from you! Get coached by me….the best!!

What’s Next?
Doing more corporate wellness professional developments. I’m super excited about expanding more territory and bringing my messaging of flourishing to the masses.
