I have been rooting for Quinta for a LONG time. She never fails to make me laugh or smile when I see her face. One of the things I think she does so beautifully is that she gets us to laugh with her. Quinta IS the joke but not in a butt of the joke kind of way. She is Black girl magic personified in a fun size package and I love watching her win. Quinta Brunson is a comedian, writer, and actress from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was formerly best known for her comedic skits and videos on social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube but she is quickly becoming a household name thanks for her newest project, “Abbott Elementary”. She has changed television with that show and it’s only 2 seasons old. She is a force that I know I will one day meet and work with but that’s a story for the future.

One of the things that makes Quinta so magical to watch is her relatability. Almost all of us have been in school, so there is someting so deeply relatable about the space, the people and the stories. She has an incredible talent for content and humor. She is part of the reason I know Buzzfeed and enjoyed their content (aka her content) so much. All of the PLUS she’s gorgeous?!? Life is not fair and I love that for her. When she left Buzzfeed in 2017, I was excited to see what was next for her as solo creator. She has since created, written and star on a number of TV series, such as the HBO show “A Black Lady Sketch Show”, and the Comedy Central digital series “The Gayle Tales”. She is one of the reasons I’m so inspired to continue to tell stories. Quinta is the personification of hard work and dedication coming together and paying off. I continue to pray that she gets everything she dreams of through entertaning us. She is living her dream and I love that for her (and for us).

One of the beautiful things about this chapter in Quinta’s journey is that while she might be new to some, she’s been in this game and doing this work for a really long time and I’m happy to see all that work paying off for her. I also love that she is taking so many incredible people with her like Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James and Lisa Ann Walter who are all sooo talented and have also been in the game for a while. She also does magical things like using ‘Abbott Elementary’ marketing money to buy supplies for teachers because she said she wanted to use the money to “help people.”

Her first book, “She Memes Well” is a beautiful collection of deeply personal and funny essays. She is an incredible human that I look forward to seeing more from. She is already an award winning writer who’s had a sitdown with Oprah which is just one of many “I’ve made it” moments I look forward to cheering for. She is an icon and I’m enjoying watching her rise. I also look forward to seeing the homies in her future work cause it’s bound to happen (Quinta if you see this, Davie Yarborough would be an excellent cameo/writer, she’s a talented teacher IRL)
